Goa, July 19 -- Tensions between the United States and Iran have intensified after two US soldiers were killed and four others injured in an attack in Jordan. In response, the US launched fresh airstrikes targeting Iran's Revolutionary Guard, saying the operation aimed to weaken Iran's ability to threaten shipping through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global energy supplies, has become a key flashpoint in the escalating conflict. US Central Command said the strikes were intended to safeguard maritime traffic and reduce Iran's military capabilities in the region.
