Goa, Oct. 4 -- Two Indian nationals, Arokkiyasami Daison, 23, and Rajendran Mayilarasan, 27, were each sentenced to five years and one month in prison, along with 12 strokes of the cane, for robbing and assaulting two sex workers in Singapore. The sentencing took place on Friday, according to reports from The Straits Times.

The men had pleaded guilty to voluntarily causing hurt while committing robbery. Court proceedings revealed that the duo arrived in Singapore from India on April 24 for a vacation. Two days later, while walking in the Little India area, they were approached by an unknown man who offered contact details of sex workers.
