Yellapur-Sirsi, Sept. 9 -- Two persons have been arrested by the Forest Mobile Squad in Yellapur-Sirsi with a large quantity of alleged wildlife contraband seized during the operation.

Forest officials said the arrested individuals are suspected to be members of a gang allegedly involved in hunting wildlife across forest areas of Goa and Uttara Kannada.

The seizure has raised concerns over organised wildlife hunting activities spanning the forests of the two neighbouring states. Officials are continuing their investigation to determine the extent of the alleged network and identify other persons who may be involved.

Further details regarding the seized wildlife contraband and the arrests are awaited.
