Goa, Oct. 7 -- Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on Tuesday administered the oath of office to three newly elevated judges of the Supreme Court, increasing the court's working strength to 37 judges against the sanctioned strength of 38.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at 3.30 pm, departing from the Supreme Court's usual practice of conducting oath ceremonies for newly appointed judges in the morning. The proceedings were also livestreamed by the Supreme Court.

The appointments were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium on September 28 and subsequently notified by the Union government on October 5.
