On 20th May 2026, the Chemists and Drug gists' Association of Goa joined a nationwide strike by 12 lakh whole sale and retail outlets. They were protesting against the unregulated and uninhib ited growth of e-pharmacy, as a result of government apathy. They addressed a letter to PM Narendra Modi, through the North Goa Col lector, highlighting the ille gal sale of medicines online without a verified or valid prescription; and with pred atory discounting practices. All chemists operate under the framework of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and other laws; none of which apply to the e-pharmacies and are therefore of grave concern in public health and safe ty of patients.
