Goa, May 27 -- Margao Police have registered a case against a Mahindra Thar driver who allegedly fled after hitting a scooter at Sirlim on National Highway 17.

According to police sources, the incident took place at Sirlim, following which the accused reportedly escaped from the spot without stopping.

During the investigation, Margao Police traced and recovered the Thar vehicle from Calangute. Police have booked the driver for rash and negligent driving and have also invoked charges of attempt to murder in connection with the case.

Further investigation is currently underway to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
