India, Feb. 25 -- Tension gripped Sinquetim in Navelim after residents alleged large-scale destruction of a water body due to ongoing landfilling activities in the area.

Locals from Navelim and surrounding villages gathered at the site on Tuesday morning, demanding immediate intervention from the concerned government departments. They claimed that extensive filling work has obstructed the natural flow of water, raising alarm just ahead of the monsoon season.

Residents expressed serious concerns that the blockage of the drainage system could lead to flooding in low-lying areas once heavy rains begin. They urged authorities to conduct an urgent inspection and initiate strict action against those responsible for the alleged damage.
