Goa, May 19 -- Tense moments prevailed at the Vailankanni Chapel after officials of the Mormugao Port Authority arrived at the site to carry out a demarcation exercise, triggering concern among devotees and local residents.

Following the arrival of the officials, parish priest Fr Xavier Braganza along with several devotees gathered at the chapel site. The situation intensified as local MLA Sankalp Amonkar rushed to the spot and strongly opposed the proposed exercise.

Addressing officials at the site, Amonkar reportedly warned that "not an inch will be touched" and urged the authorities to defer the demarcation process. The incident drew the attention of locals, with devotees expressing concern over the future of the chapel site.
