Tarun Tejpal to Challenge High Court Rape Conviction in Supreme Court
Goa, Aug. 6 -- Senior journalist and former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal has said he will challenge the Bombay High Court verdict convicting him in the 2013 rape case involving a former junior colleague.
Reacting to the judgment, Tejpal said he intends to move the Supreme Court against the High Court's decision.
"We will appeal the High Court's judgment in the Supreme Court. The High Court has given a wrong order," Tejpal said.
Earlier on Thursday, the High Court overturned the trial court's acquittal of Tejpal and convicted him in the 2013 rape case. The court has also reserved its order on the quantum of sentence, which is expected to be pronounced later in the day.
