Goa, Oct. 4 -- The Tamil Nadu government has banned the sale of the cough syrup 'Coldrif' following suspicions that it may be linked to the deaths of 11 children in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The directive, effective from October 1, mandates the removal of the syrup from all markets across the state, according to an official from the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) Department.
Authorities conducted inspections at the pharmaceutical company's manufacturing facility in Sunguvarchathram, Kancheepuram district, over the past two days, collecting samples for testing. The city-based firm produces and supplies the medicine to states including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
