Supreme Court Seeks ECI, Centre Response on Plea Over Election Panel Decisions
Goa, Oct. 5 -- The Supreme Court has sought responses from the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Centre within a week on a petition challenging decisions allegedly taken by the poll panel without the approval of its other two Election Commissioners.
During the hearing, the Supreme Court bench observed that decisions of the Election Commission must be taken unanimously or by a majority, raising questions over the decision-making process cited in the petition.
The plea challenges the validity of decisions allegedly taken by the Chief Election Commissioner-led panel without the concurrence of the other two Election Commissioners.
