Goa, June 3 -- Just three months after leading India to the T20 World Cup title on home soil, Suryakumar Yadav's tenure as India's T20 captain appears to have come to an abrupt end. According to a reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in consultation with the team management and selection committee, has decided to appoint a new captain for the upcoming T20 cycle.

The decision comes ahead of India's white-ball tour of Ireland and England later this month. India are scheduled to play two T20 Internationals in Ireland followed by a five-match T20I series in England.

According to the report, the decision was taken after discussions involving the selection committee, team management and head coach Gautam Gambhir.
