Goa, July 21 -- Spain's FIFA World Cup-winning team received a rousing welcome from hundreds of thousands of jubilant fans as they celebrated their historic triumph with an open-top bus parade through the streets of Madrid on Monday.

Head coach Luis de la Fuente and his squad returned to the Spanish capital earlier in the day after defeating Argentina in a dramatic World Cup final in New Jersey. Before joining the public celebrations, the players met King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia at the Zarzuela Palace.

The champions then embarked on a victory parade aboard an open-top bus, making their way to the iconic Plaza de Cibeles, where supporters had gathered since morning to witness the celebrations.
