Sonam Wangchuk Loses 9 Kg After 19-Day Hunger Strike, Doctors Warn of Organ Damage
Goa, July 16 -- Activist Sonam Wangchuk has lost more than nine kilograms after completing 19 days of his indefinite hunger strike, prompting doctors to warn that prolonged fasting could soon begin affecting his vital organs. The health update came on Thursday as the Delhi High Court directed authorities to conduct daily medical monitoring, while Wangchuk reiterated that he would not end his protest without a response from the government.
According to a medical bulletin issued by Dr. Satish Lamba, Wangchuk has lost over nine kilograms since beginning his fast.
