Goa, July 24 -- Activist Sonam Wangchuk on Thursday night ended his 26-day hunger strike after receiving assurances from the Centre following a series of high-level discussions. He broke his fast at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram in the presence of Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, Dr Jitendra Singh.

The development came after a day of intensive consultations between senior government leaders aimed at resolving the ongoing standoff.
