Goa, May 27 -- Six traditional Goan products have moved closer to receiving Geographical Indication (GI) status after successfully clearing the examination stage at the Geographical Indications Registry in Chennai.

The products include Coconut Carvings, Kunbi Sari and fabric, Kaavi Art, Dodol, Goan Chorizo, and Ghumot.

Officials stated that the Goa government is expected to submit its response during the mandatory notice period before the GI tags are officially granted.

Meanwhile, five more Goan products - including Goan Pao, local sweets, and traditional metal crafts - have also entered the GI application process.
