Goa, July 9 -- At least seven people were killed and two others sustained critical injuries in a head-on collision between a truck and a Tempo Traveller in Karnataka's Arebail Ghat on the Yellapur-Karwar highway.

According to officials, all the victims were residents of Dharwad and were travelling in the Tempo Traveller for a leisure trip when the accident occurred.

The impact of the collision was severe, leaving seven occupants dead at the scene, while two injured passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Rescue teams were immediately deployed to the accident site to recover the bodies and assist the injured. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
