Goa, Nov. 4 -- In a swift execution of municipal enforcement, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday cleared 27 illegal commercial structures from a valuable plot designated for public transportation infrastructure in Borivali East, Mumbai. The demolition drive came less than 24 hours after the Supreme Court of India took severe exception to the civic body's persistent delay in enforcing land compliance.

The cleared property-a 3,400-square-metre plot situated along Swami Vivekanand Road in the western suburb-has long been earmarked for a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus depot under the municipality's Town Planning Scheme-II.
