Goa, Oct. 1 -- In a landmark move towards social inclusion, the Sanquelim Municipal Corporation has decided to provide work opportunities to special children, bringing them into the mainstream of society. The initiative, launched under the leadership of Mayor Siddhi Prabhu during the Navratri festival, will see one special child employed in the municipality every year for a period of one year.
To formalize this decision, the corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Keshav Seva Sadhana, a school for special children based in Vathadeo Sarvan. The school will recommend a student each year, who will be given employment in the municipal office along with a monthly stipend of Rs.10,000 to Rs.12,000.
