Panaji, Sept. 5 -- Sanquelim has become the sixth rainfall monitoring station in Goa to record more than 2,000mm of cumulative rainfall during the ongoing monsoon season, even as the state as a whole continues to face a significant rainfall deficit, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Rainfall remained widespread across Goa in recent days, pushing Sanquelim past the 2,000mm mark. The station has now joined a group of locations that have received some of the highest rainfall totals in the state since the beginning of the monsoon.
