Goa, April 8 -- In a swift operation, the Panjim Coastal Security Police arrested a Bengaluru-based fraudster who had earlier escaped from police custody, officials said.
The accused, identified as Gagan Deep N (32), a native of Chikballapur in Karnataka, was initially arrested by Bengaluru City Police on March 31 for allegedly duping a charitable trust of Rs.6.30 crore by impersonating an official of a reputed multinational company.
After his arrest in Anjuna, he was taken to Bengaluru for further investigation. Police later returned to Goa on April 3 along with the accused to recover part of the defrauded money, which was reportedly spent at a casino in Panaji.
