Goa, Oct. 28 -- In a major midnight operation, police seized Rs.1 crore in unaccounted cash from a private bus at the Majali checkpost on the Goa-Karnataka border. The seizure was made during a routine inspection late Tuesday night.

According to police sources, the cash was found in possession of a Rajasthan-based passenger, who was reportedly carrying the money from Goa to Bengaluru. The passenger was detained for questioning after he failed to provide valid documents or a satisfactory explanation for the large amount.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine whether the money is linked to hawala transactions, tax evasion, or other illegal activities.
