Red Alert issued after powerful dust storm sweeps across Delhi-NCR
Goa, June 15 -- A powerful dust storm swept across Delhi-NCR on Monday afternoon, bringing strong winds, dark skies and reduced visibility across several parts of the region. In response, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a Red Alert, warning residents of thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and gusty winds over the next few hours.
According to the IMD, wind speeds were expected to range between 60 and 80 kmph across Delhi and neighbouring areas. However, stronger gusts were recorded at some locations. The Safdarjung observatory reported intense winds during the afternoon, while Palam witnessed gusts reaching nearly 92 kmph, equivalent to 50 knots.
