Goa, Aug. 4 -- Environmentalist Rajendra Kerkar has strongly objected to Union Minister Pralhad Joshi's remarks on the Mhadei river dispute, stating that the matter is currently pending before the Supreme Court and that any move affecting Goa's interests would be unacceptable.

Kerkar said the natural flow of the Mhadei river into Goa must be restored and cautioned against the diversion of water through the Kalasa, Bhandura and Haltara projects. He argued that such projects could have serious ecological and environmental consequences for the state.
