Goa, July 26 -- Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has defended police action against youths who allegedly displayed "Free Umar Khalid" placards during the recent NEET protest, saying authorities acted appropriately to prevent anti-national messaging under the guise of demonstrations. Sawant said the government fully supports every citizen's democratic right to protest peacefully, but stressed that protests cannot be used to promote or endorse individuals accused in cases linked to national security.
