Goa, Oct. 20 -- Former BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur triggered massive controversy with her remarks at a religious gathering in Bhopal, urging parents to take harsh measures against daughters who visit the homes of non-Hindus. Thakur said parents should "break their daughters' legs" if they disobey and fail to "follow Hindu values."

"If our girl tries to go to a non-Hindu man, do not spare breaking her legs," Thakur declared, adding that "discipline" was necessary for those who "do not listen or follow values."

The comments, captured in a video that later went viral on Facebook, showed Thakur repeating her appeal to "punish" disobedient daughters for their "well-being."
