India, March 25 -- The nomination of AAP candidate Geetesh Naik for the Ponda bypoll has been accepted, with the Returning Officer overruling objections raised by the Indian National Congress after considering the party's response.

Following the completion of scrutiny, three candidates remain in the fray for the upcoming election. These include Ritesh Naik representing the Bharatiya Janata Party, Ketan Bhatikar from the Congress, and AAP's Geetesh Naik.

The development clears the way for a triangular contest in the Ponda by-election, with all three parties set to intensify their campaigns in the coming days.
