Goa, Oct. 24 -- Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal questioned the discriminatory nature of international sanctions on India, highlighting that while some countries like Germany and the UK receive exemptions, India faces penal tariffs for buying Russian oil. Speaking at the Berlin Global Dialogue, Goyal asked why India is being singled out, despite adhering to global regulations.

He pointed out that Rosneft's subsidiary in India has been sanctioned by the European Union, adding that India continues to pursue new markets and strengthen domestic demand despite additional 25% tariffs imposed by the US. Goyal also criticised the EU's safeguard duties on steel, calling them an example of double standards.
