Goa, Dec. 19 -- Residents of Pilgaon-Sarmanas blocked the transportation of minerals on Friday, protesting against the movement of mineral-laden trucks through their locality. Locals alleged that the continuous transport has led to severe dust pollution, damaged roads, and posed serious health risks to villagers, especially children and the elderly. Protesters demanded immediate intervention by authorities and strict regulation of mineral transport in the area. The blockade caused a temporary halt in truck movement, leading to traffic disruptions. Officials later reached the spot to assess the situation and hold discussions with the agitating residents.
