Goa, Aug. 4 -- After weeks of political uncertainty and a two-month delay, Paul Pereira has been elected as the new sarpanch of Navelim village panchayat. The election, which had been postponed amidst controversy and internal disagreements, was finally held, bringing an end to the prolonged leadership vacuum.
The delay in convening the meeting had sparked criticism and raised questions about administrative transparency and political maneuvering within the panchayat. However, with Pereira now officially at the helm, local governance in Navelim is expected to resume normal functioning.
