Goa, June 26 -- Residents of Parse have formally opposed the proposed urbanisation notification that seeks to bring the village under an urban area, submitting a representation to the Secretary of the Parse Gram Panchayat urging that the proposal be rejected.

During the meeting, the villagers also appealed to the Gram Panchayats of Morjim, Mandrem, and Harmal to oppose the notification and forward reports to the government reflecting the concerns of local residents.

The representation was submitted in the presence of Mahesh Kambli, Ganpat Kambli, and several other villagers, who reiterated the need to safeguard the village's traditional character.
