Goa, Sept. 24 -- Panjim Police have requested a 7-day extension of remand for eight accused, including Zenito Cardozo, in an ongoing organized crime investigation. Zenito's counsel objected to the extension, arguing that the arrest did not comply with Supreme Court directives regarding the provision of proper grounds for arrest.

Police informed the court that certain evidence, including vehicle recovery, is still pending, and statements from the victim and witnesses have yet to be recorded. Authorities also stated that the accused made a WhatsApp call and allegedly threw a mobile phone into the Mandovi River, which could not be recovered.
