Goa, Aug. 25 -- Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Monday handed over an Indian citizenship certificate to Brenden Valentine Crasto, a Pakistani Christian who has been residing in Anjuna since 2006.
Crasto, who first came to Goa in 1981, has been living continuously in Anjuna since December 2, 2006. In 2014, he married Indian citizen Merilyn Fernandes. With the formal certificate presentation at Mantralaya, he officially became the third Pakistani national in Goa to be granted Indian citizenship under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).
The Chief Minister personally handed over the document, highlighting the government's commitment to resolving long-pending cases of citizenship for eligible applicants under the CAA.
