Goa, Aug. 12 -- Local fisherman Avinash D'Silva has raised concerns over the reported oyster contamination, saying fishermen in Betul depend heavily on oyster collection for their livelihoods.

D'Silva said the reported contamination has affected the income of local fishermen and created uncertainty among fishermen and shellfish collectors who rely on oyster harvesting for their daily earnings.

He urged the authorities to clarify the findings and provide accurate information on the situation at the earliest.

D'Silva also called for necessary measures to protect the livelihoods of fishermen and shellfish collectors while addressing concerns related to the reported contamination.
