Goa, July 29 -- Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Monday acknowledged that electricity bills amounting to over Rs.80 crore from various government departments remain unpaid, but assured that the dues would be adjusted through book entries in the state's financial accounts.
"Many government departments have pending electricity bills. We will deduct the amount through the books of accounts. The transfer will be made after the current Assembly session," Dhavalikar told reporters.
The minister's statement comes amid rising concerns over inter-departmental financial inefficiencies and mounting dues to the electricity department, which has reportedly flagged delayed payments as a strain on operational funds.
