Vasco, Oct. 28 -- A new water pipeline is being laid in the Orulem-Belabai area to improve water supply and accommodate increased water pressure, with the work expected to be completed within 20 days.

The pipeline installation is being carried out in the presence of Vasco MLA Krishna Daji Salkar and former Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) chairperson Girish Borkar.

Speaking to reporters, Salkar said the existing pipeline, which is around 50 years old, is being replaced with a larger six-inch pipeline to improve its capacity and withstand increased water pressure.

He said the area currently receives 80 MLD of water, which is expected to rise to 100 MLD following the commissioning of the new water treatment plant at Verna.
