Goa, Oct. 7 -- The Odisha government on Monday extended the suspension of internet services in Cuttack till 7 p.m. on October 7, as tension continues to grip the city following a series of violent incidents during the Durga idol immersion festivities last week.
The Cuttack district administration cited concerns over the misuse of social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, and X, warning that provocative or inflammatory content circulating online could further disrupt public order and peace.
Authorities said the move was necessary to prevent the spread of rumours and maintain law and order.
