Goa, Sept. 23 -- A fisherman from Odisha drowned in the River Mandovi late on Sunday night after he accidentally fell off from a trawler. The incident was reported to police by the owner, after fellow workers retrieved the body of the deceased from the river and brought him to Malim Jetty. The victim was identified as Gangadhar Behera, a resident of Malim Jetty, originally from Arakhakuda, Bramagiri, Puri district, Odisha.

The body was forwarded to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, for preservation and legal formalities. The case is under investigation by PSI Arun Shirodkar of Porvorim Police Station.
