Goa, Oct. 4 -- According to a Saudi official briefed on the interrogation and reports from The Wall Street Journal, 29-year-old Omani co-pilot Hamam al-Hammami made chilling admissions to investigators following his arrest. Hammami confessed that he wanted to crash the flight and stated that he was "not afraid to die."

The terrifying incident unfolded mid-air when Hammami launched an attack on Captain Smit Machchhar, an Indian pilot whose quick thinking and bravery successfully foiled the mid-air crash attempt. Following the altercation, the flight made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. Hammami has since been extradited from Saudi Arabia and is currently being interrogated by authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
