North Korea Fires Unidentified Projectile Toward Sea of Japan, South Korea Says
Goa, Sept. 12 -- North Korea launched an unidentified projectile toward the Sea of Japan, South Korea's Defence Ministry said on Saturday, marking another weapons-related activity by Pyongyang.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmed that it detected the launch toward the waters known as the East Sea in South Korea, but did not immediately provide further details about the type or range of the projectile.
The latest launch comes after North Korea fired a barrage of missiles into the sea on August 20, despite an apparent diplomatic overture from US President Donald Trump, who had expressed plans to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un later this year.
