Goa, July 25 -- Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday said that while examination paper leaks initially caused distress among students, some candidates used the additional time created by the disruption to prepare better and improve their performance.

Responding to questions about the ongoing protests at Delhi's Jantar Mantar over alleged examination paper leaks, Sitharaman said the Central government had taken the issue seriously and assured that those responsible for compromising the integrity of the examinations would face prompt action.
