The forward was left on the bench as an unused substitute against Norway, following a half-time substitution versus Wales. Portugal coach Jorge Jesus stated there is no feud between them, explaining that squad rules apply universally and that decisions are his alone. However, Jesus acknowledged that making Ronaldo warm up extensively without playing was a mistake.
