Goa, May 11 -- Residents of Nachinola, along with Panchayat members and Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira, conducted an inspection on Saturday at an illegal garbage dumping site near the power sub-station at Gavar after a large quantity of waste was allegedly dumped there by unidentified persons.

Villagers expressed serious concern over the recurring incidents of illegal garbage disposal in the area, stating that the entire stretch has been affected by foul smell and unhygienic conditions.

With the monsoon season approaching, residents feared that unattended waste could pose a major health risk to nearby localities and lead to environmental pollution.
