Goa, July 4 -- Heavy rainfall continued to lash Mumbai on Saturday, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a red alert for the city and neighbouring districts of Thane, Palghar and Raigad. The weather department warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated places likely to receive extremely heavy showers accompanied by gusty winds reaching 50-60 kmph.

Despite the adverse weather, Mumbai's suburban railway network remained largely operational, although commuters experienced delays on several routes due to waterlogging.
