Goa, May 22 -- A 65-year-old man was killed after being run over by a container truck while on a morning walk at Patradevi along National Highway-66.

The deceased has been identified as Narayan Sahadev Sawal. According to police, the container truck crushed the victim before the driver fled the scene along with the vehicle following the accident.

Mopa Police Station later tracked down the absconding driver in Lanja in Maharashtra's Ratnagiri district and apprehended him.

Further investigation into the fatal accident is underway.
