India, Feb. 16 -- Residents of Mormugao on Tuesday addressed a press conference to express growing alarm over what they described as worsening coal pollution in the region, attributing it to increasing coal handling and transportation activities.

Locals alleged that coal dust levels have risen sharply in recent months, resulting in a surge in respiratory ailments, allergies, and other health-related complications, particularly among children and the elderly. They claimed that fine coal particles are settling inside homes, on streets, and in public spaces, making everyday life increasingly difficult.
