India, Feb. 11 -- Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the coal handling company operating at Mormugao Port, giving it a three-day deadline to immediately address the foul smell and air pollution allegedly caused by coal operations in the area.
Speaking to the media, Amonkar said residents have been suffering due to the continuous pollution emanating from coal handling activities and alleged that repeated complaints have failed to bring any concrete relief.
"The company has been given three days to stop the foul smell and air pollution. If no corrective steps are taken within this period, we will be left with no option but to take direct action," Amonkar warned.
