Goa, Aug. 28 -- The demolition of the a Ganesh pandal shed at Headland-Sada has been adjourned amid concerns over a possible law-and-order situation after some people reportedly threatened to self-immolate.

The demolition had been ordered by the High Court, which had directed the Chief Officer of the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) to execute the order and remain present at the site.

However, the MMC Chief Officer was reportedly absent from the site as he had been hospitalised, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the execution of the demolition order.

The demolition has now been deferred in view of the prevailing circumstances and fears of a potential law-and-order situation at the site.
