Morjim Fishermen Demand Protection of Traditional Homes, Warn of Protests
Goa, July 21 -- Local fishermen, along with representatives of political and social organisations, have demanded the protection of the traditional homes of the indigenous fishing community at Temwada in Morjim. They said the ancestral houses have stood for generations and are closely linked to the community's heritage, culture and livelihood. Warning of strong protests if their concerns are ignored, the locals urged the government to take immediate steps to safeguard the settlement and protect the rights of the fishing community. They said preserving these homes is essential to maintaining the area's traditional identity and way of life.
