Mhadei Row: Yuri Alemao Backs Tiger Reserve Status, Viegas Seeks Project Inspection Deadline
Goa, Sept. 2 -- Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has demanded that the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary be declared a tiger reserve to strengthen the protection of the Mhadei River and its ecosystem.
Alemao said the move would support the long-term conservation of the river and its surrounding forests. He urged the government to take immediate steps towards notifying the sanctuary as a tiger reserve.
Meanwhile, Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas said Karnataka was ready to resolve the Mhadei river diversion dispute through discussions with Goa. However, he sought clarity from the government on the proposed inspection of the Kalasa-Banduri project.
